Die Dieter Meier Puro Malbec Grape Selection wird aus einer strengen Auswahl der besten Trauben des Weinguts bereitet, die in zwei unterschiedlichen Terroirs angebaut werden - die eine Hälfte der Trauben stammt aus Agrelo Alto, die andere Hälfte aus dem Gebiet Tupungato im Valle de Uco. Die Eigenschaften dieser beiden Terroirs werden vereint zu einem ausdrucksvollen, vielschichtigen Wein - ein aromatisches Bouquet von schwarzen Früchten, Kräutern und Veilchen, fein unterlegt mit mineralischen Anklängen und den feinwürzigen Noten der Eichenholzreife. Die Geschichte des Bio-Weingutes Puro in Argentinien beginnt in den späten 1990er Jahren, als Dieter Meier, der Sänger des Schweizer Popduos YELLO, hier ganze 380 Hektar Land erwirbt. Rund 120 Hektar hat er davon bis heute mit klassisch-argentinischen Rebsorten wie Malbec oder Cabernet Sauvignon bepflanzt. Ein wichtiger Grundsatz war dabei für Dieter Meier immer, dass Puro ein bio-zertifiziertes Weingut sein sollte. Auch bei seiner Rinderzucht folgt er der selben Prämisse und erzeugt so nicht nur besten Biowein, sondern auch feinstes argentinisches Bio-Rindfleisch. Das die Puro-Weine von Dieter Meier nicht nur Bio, sondern auch gut sind, garantiert zuerst einmal der Boden. Hier in Agrelo Alto, südlich der Stadt Mendoza und am Fuße der Anden, sind die Böden steinig, karg und mineralienreich. Agrelo Alto in Mendoza ist aber auch extrem trocken und so setzt Dieter Meier auf seinem Weingut Puro auf besonders ressourcenschonende Tröpfchenbewässerung um den Reben ihr notwendiges Wasser zukommen zu lassen. Im Gegenzug bringt die Trockenheit in der Nähe der Anden aber auch große Vorteile mit sich. Bodegas y Viñedos Ponce is among the defining producers of D.O. Manchuela and works with old Bobal vines from high-altitude vineyards on limestone and gravel soils. When Juan Antonio Ponce founded the winery, Bobal was still widely regarded as a grape for bulk wine production. Instead of planting international varieties, he focused on his family’s old bush vines and became one of the key figures behind the modern revival of Spanish terroir wines. Ponce Vino Tinto combines mainly Bobal with a small proportion of Moravia Agria, fermented with native yeasts and aged for around twelve months in large French oak vats and 600-litre barrels. Biodynamic farming and restrained oak ageing shape the wine’s precise and vibrant character. The grapes were harvested by hand. The harvest for the Merlot cuvée began at the end of September, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon at the beginning of October. The weather conditions were perfect. Each grape variety was vinified separately. Spontaneous maceration took place in steel tanks, with the skins being submerged 2 - 4 times a day. The malolactic fermentation took place in oak barrels. The wines matured for 25 months in small oak barrels. After blending into a cuvée, the wine matured for 6 months in large wooden barrels.Deep dark ruby garnet in colour, opaque core, violet reflections, subtle ochre rim brightening. Delicate aromas of nougat and ripe dark berries, a hint of figs and candied orange zest, underlaid with precious wood spice. Macho Man Monastrell from Tierra de Murcia is produced by Casa Rojo and originates from the Paraje de La Raja in the highlands of Murcia. The Monastrell vines grow on poor, calcareous soils in a dry continental climate with Mediterranean influence. Grapes are hand harvested from seven selected parcels. Fermentation takes place at around 25 °C in conical stainless steel tanks, partly in large oak vats. The wine matures for approximately six months in French oak barrels and Italian clay amphorae, followed by further ageing in the cellar prior to release. Hacienda Monasterio is one of the estates that helped shape the modern identity of Ribera del Duero DO. The project was established in the early 1990s around a historic property near Pesquera de Duero and became the first major undertaking of Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck before he later founded Pingus. From the beginning, Hacienda Monasterio pursued a Burgundy inspired interpretation of Ribera del Duero focused on precision, freshness and balance rather than maximum extraction. Tempranillo forms the backbone of the Reserva together with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, sourced from organically and biodynamically farmed high altitude vineyards with limestone soils. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, followed by around 20 months of ageing in French oak barrels. The colour is an intense, not very dark ruby red. The bouquet is typical of the variety with notes of ripe plums, summer flowers and black pepper. Our Riserva is made from our best Sangiovese grapes. This medium to full-bodied wine shows the elegance and charm of this classic Tuscan grape variety and reveals a finesse that certainly does justice to this historic designation.
